JAZZ
Jazz. A fusion of dance styles and a multitude of history behind the genre.
Originating from African American and Caribbean traditional dance, Jazz has seen the greatest modern choreographers like Bob Fosse experiment and shape the style for future generations. Every transformation of the style inevitably traces back to one of these two distinct origins.
Jazz dance also evolves in parallel to the music of the world. A physical embodiment of a given time in history. It therefore continues to transform while remaining a dance style so on trend and rich with learnings.
The jazz of today and what is taught at NERVE is most commonly referred to as ‘commercial jazz’. Streams of contemporary hip hop combined with the retention of slick traditional jazz technique. NERVE Jazz classes train our students to an elite level. They provide a comprehensive insight into what is expected of a Jazz performer in todays industry.
HIP HOP
Hip Hop, like jazz, has continually morphed and evolved over time. From street dance roots, and most notably performed to Hip Hop music the style is rich with history.
Hip Hop’s limits as a genre are forever expanding through the creativity of the choreographer. Currently taught at NERVE is a commercial and modernised stream of Hip Hop.
NERVE HIP HOP DANCERS WILL DEVELOP THEIR CONFIDENCE AND PERFORMANCE QUALITY, THEY WILL LEARN TEXTURE OF MOVEMENT, TIMING AND INTRICATE COORDINATION BUT MOST OF ALL HOW TO ENTERTAIN!!

We’ve got a class just for you.
Our Boys Hip Hop class is all about mate-ship and entertainment!
Our NERVE fella’s will learn a modernised and commercial stream of street dance. Our teachers, through a teamwork approach, work with students to improve their movement dynamics, texture, timing and shapes.
Students will develop self confidence alongside high level performance skills and can we say… you won’t want to miss these kids perform! NERVE Boys Hip Hop… full of fun and one to get your mates on too!

CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance is a direct, physical embodiment of story telling. Extreme athleticism, evoking use of musicality and choreography that is driven by stimulus and narration.
NERVE Contemporary classes aim to train our dancers like artistic athletes. Students will draw from their technique and classical skills to build strength and control within every movement.
Students will become confident in their individual style as dancers, making stylistic choices through improvisation and developing their own choreographic flare.
Contemporary is a challenging class but an extremely rewarding one… if you’ve got the NERVE. It really does require ALL OF YOU to dive ALL IN.
Lyrical
Lyrical is a stream of modern dance coined by early choreographers who’s creativity saw an extension of classical ballet emerge. It focuses on the expression of the dancer married with musicality, specifically song lyrics.
Lyrical draws from jazz, ballet, modern dance and acrobatics to form a style of its own. A style that requires high level technique, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance and a flexible range of motion of the body’s joints.
. NERVE Lyrical classes are targeted to our junior age groups, a stepping stone into the world of contemporary dance. Students will learn how to combine athleticism and performance quality to effectively convey a story.
Students will establish the first few puzzle pieces
in discovering their individual style of expression.
Technique
The seamless execution of any performance requires incredible amounts of ATHLETICISM
Maintaining correct anatomical alignment through cardiovascular endurance ensures our students can complete classes and performances safely.
the Flexibility developed in nerve technique classes is paramount to improving vital range of motion which drastically improves the aesthetics of a dancer’s movement and shapes.
During NERVE Technique classes we combine stretching, strength training, cardiovascular conditioning and advanced skill work to see you become the strongest dancer you can be… an elite performer.

NERVE open classes are the perfect avenue to explore your individuality and versatility as a dancer. They are such a treat and a total celebration of dance.
NERVE partners with the industries best performers and renowned choreographers to bring you regular classes throughout the year in a variety of styles.
Open classes are available to the public. Ages 12yrs & over.

TINY TOTS
Parents/guardians are encouraged to come along to class and get involved with their children. It is extremely important to NERVE that YOUR dance experience is just as enjoyable and stress free as it is for the kids. They are only this tiny for such a short amount of time so we endeavour to provide a service that you BOTH will treasure.
The most magical part of your little groovers week. A well rounded and gentle introduction to dance
. A combination of foundational technique and a whole lot of fun, games and imagination.
Tiny Tot classes are interchangeable… meaning once you’ve signed up, you can choose from the range of Tiny Tot classes our studio has to offer and attend the class times that suit you best each week. Your teacher may be different but our programming will always be universal across our brand.
NERVE’s ultimate goal within our Tiny Tot program is to spark a passion in your mini movers heart.

CHEER
Cheerleading is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand sports in Australia.
With acrobatics on the way, NERVE’s cheer classes will see students develop a robust and versatile foundation to launch into the cheer space with confidence and professionalism.
Pom is an athletic and skilled use of dance technique combined with high level teamwork.
CHEER FOUNDATION - 6 - 9yrs

For the retired dancers…. the dancers who’s busy lives outside of the studio took over… the dancers that found new passions… the dancers that may not be dancing these days but desperately ache to feel that joy again. That indescribable feeling that this thing we all once adored brought into our lives - NERVE IS HERE… FOR YOU!!
Our Pro classes are weekly, they encompass different styles and routines for your every visit. They will challenge you.. of course! Most of all though they are designed entirely to give back to dancers that gave so much of themselves to dance.

NERVE believes in the power of ballet training as the strongest foundation for elite performers.
Students will develop a detailed understanding of safe dance practice, anatomical alignment, extensive ballet vocabulary and unrivalled performance quality.

Our NERVE NATION comp classes are a challenge. They are incredibly focused on the progression of individual dancers and the team as a whole.
NERVE teachers push students to their limits then show them how to perform beyond those internal barriers. With multiple performance and competition opportunities over the year our NERVE NATION teams are an invaluable learning and growth opportunity for aspiring dancers.
Your group will work closely with each other and NERVE teachers across varying styles over the year. Nerve’s aim is to see these dancers become versatile, agile and well rounded performers.
